CHILDREN’S BOOK CHALLENGE

Child seated with notebook, smiling, thinking under a creative idea light bulb. Children's Book Challenge for 4th & 5th graders. Sponsored by South Carolina's Electric Cooperatives.

Coastal Electric Cooperative would like to invite your fourth and fifth-grade students to write and illustrate a children’s book about electric energy for an opportunity to win cash prizes, to have their books published & distributed throughout the state, and recognition at the SC State House!   The Children’s Book Challenge is a great way to engage your students with a cross-curricular project that correlates to state standards.  The 2024-2025 theme is “Staying Safe Around Electricity.”  The registration deadline to participate in this challenge is Friday, November 22, 2024, and the deadline for book submissions to the co-op is Friday, February 7, 2025.   We will offer blank paper books for the students or they can even create an online book through StoryJumper!

Teachers are also eligible for cash prizes should their student(s) win!

We hope that you all will consider having your fourth and fifth graders participate in this book challenge and will share this information with all of the appropriate contacts throughout the district.  If you have any questions at all or would like more information please do not hesitate to reach out to Samantha Jones at samantha.jones@coastal.coop or (843) 538-9434.
