Position: Lineman

 

 

 

Avail­abil­i­ty
This posi­tion will be avail­able on a per­ma­nent, full-time basis.

Skills & Knowl­edge
Abil­i­ty to climb poles and read maps required.  Knowl­edge of ser­vice area also pre­ferred. Must have the skills to estab­lish and main­tain effec­tive work­ing rela­tion­ships with the pub­lic, mem­bers, fel­low employ­ees, etc.  Must have the abil­i­ty to com­mu­ni­cate clear­ly and accu­rate­ly in ver­bal and writ­ten form.  Must have the abil­i­ty to per­form math­e­mat­i­cal com­pu­ta­tions nec­es­sary to mas­ter basic elec­tri­cal the­o­ry, applic­a­ble codes, and con­struc­tion spec­i­fi­ca­tions and stan­dards.  Abil­i­ty to acquire and main­tain first aid/CPR cer­ti­fi­ca­tion and South Car­oli­na Com­mer­cial Driver’s License required.  Must have thor­ough knowl­edge of con­tent and appli­ca­tion of safe­ty rules and reg­u­la­tions.  Must have inter­est in prop­er care and han­dling of vehi­cles and oth­er relat­ed equip­ment.  Demon­strat­ed poten­tial to record time and main­tain timesheets also required.

Edu­ca­tion & Expe­ri­ence
Must be able to read, write, and per­form basic math­e­mat­i­cal com­pu­ta­tions. Pre­vi­ous util­i­ty expe­ri­ence help­ful. Work expe­ri­ence in con­struc­tion trades desir­able, prefer­ably in a respon­si­ble posi­tion involv­ing pub­lic con­tact, heavy equip­ment oper­a­tion, or relat­ed activ­i­ty.

Must have the com­mit­ment to achieve indi­vid­ual, depart­men­tal, and Coop­er­a­tive goals and objec­tives.  Must have a pos­i­tive atti­tude towards coop­er­a­tive mem­bers and the res­o­lu­tion of their prob­lems.
