Hurricane season officially started on June 1st, so we wanted to take a moment to encourage our members to consult our website’s guidance and prepare for the possibility of upcoming storms.
As we know from the 2024 season, hurricanes are impacting our region more often and with greater intensity. Implementing safety measures and planning in advance can greatly minimize the impact of the actual storm and the unpredictable aftermath.
In Coastal Electric’s Outages and Storm Center section, you will find our:
Outage Preparedness Guide – From proactive tree trimming to investing in backup power sources, there are many things to keep in mind throughout the year.
Emergency Kit Preparation – Food supplies, batteries, flashlights, drinking water, fire extinguisher, fully-charged phone… making sure you have everything in order can be overwhelming. Our comprehensive checklist is here to help.
Electrical Safety – Hurricanes and their associated outages present a unique set of safety concerns, particularly when using a generator or dealing with the live power sources. Stay informed with our extensive safety guide.
Plus:
- Remember to stay away from downed power lines! Always assume they are live.
- Stay off the roads unless you have an emergency.
- Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly.
